Susceptibility of crop plants to the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne luci, a threat to agricultural productivity

چکیده

The root-knot nematode (RKN) Meloidogyne luci is included in the Alert List of European Plant Protection Organization, because it has potential negative impacts on economically important crops. Identification plant species/cultivars resistant to M. for its management. Susceptibility 35 commercial species/cultivars, from nine families a isolate Portugal was evaluated pot assays, assessing root gall index (GI) and reproduction factor (Rf) 60 d after inoculation, with tomato ‘Coração-de-Boi’ used as positive susceptible experimental control. Presence/absence RKN resistance genes also determined pepper cultivars. One cultivar cabbage, three lettuce, ten pepper, one sugar beet, all cultivars Cucurbitaceae (five), Fabaceae (two) Poaceae (one) were (GI = 4-5; Rf 2.1-152.3). each carrot, passion fruit, lettuce ‘Cocktail’, cabbage ‘Bacalan’, ‘Coração’ ‘Lombarda’, spinach ‘Tayto’ resistant/hypersensitive (Rf < 1; GI > 2). ‘Actimino’, ‘Briomino’, ‘Veinal’ ‘Vimeiro’, which carried at least copy Mi-1.2 gene, 1-2; 0.0 0.1). These results indicate that have contribute reduction populations agro-ecosystems improve crop yields.

Susceptibility Assessments of Tomato Genotypes to Root Knot Nematodes, Meloidogyne javanica

Root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp., are one of the important plant parasitic nematodes of tomato in the world. The most suitable control method of plant parasitic nematodes is the use of resistance sources and tolerant cultivars. In the earlier studies, the results showed thatonly 2% (19 out of 537 varieties) were resistant and tolerant to the root knot nematodes. In the supplementary studie...

Sensitivity of Bedding Plants to Southern Root-knot Nematode, Meloidogyne incognita Race 3.

Thirty-two cultivars of 10 commonly-grown bedding plants, representing eight families, were evaluated for their response to infection by the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita race 3, under greenhouse conditions. Four ageratum cultivars, two marigold, and two salvia cultivars were rated resistant after exposure for 8 weeks. Four begonia, four celosia, one dianthus, one verbena, one vinca...

Transcriptional Changes of the Root-Knot Nematode Meloidogyne incognita in Response to Arabidopsis thaliana Root Signals

Root-knot nematodes are obligate parasites that invade roots and induce the formation of specialized feeding structures. Although physiological and molecular changes inside the root leading to feeding site formation have been studied, very little is known about the molecular events preceding root penetration by nematodes. In order to investigate the influence of root exudates on nematode gene e...

DNA Complexity of the Root-knot Nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) Genome.

Cot curves derived from renaturation kinetics of sheared denatured DNA indicated that the genome of six populations representing the four most common root-knot nematode species (Meloidogyne incognita, M. arenaria, M. javanica, and M. hapla) is composed of 20% repetitive and 80% nonrepetitive sequences of DNA. Cot curves were almost identical, indicating that all populations had a haploid genome...

Perla, David E. M.S., Purdue University, August, 2014. Management of Root Knot Nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) in Indiana Soybeans. Major Professors: Ricky Foster and Virginia Ferris. The aim of this project was to evaluate different strategies for management of Root Knot Nematode (RKN) on soybean and tomato in Indiana. Seed treatments were evaluated under field and greenhouse conditions, but ...
